New DAWless EP

Hey, I recently released a new EP under my nom-de-plume, The Data Lakes of techno style tracks that were all recorded on a DAWless setup. Available now on Spotify, Youtube, or other streaming platforms via ditto https://ditto.fm/lasting-formations (see end of article about publishing your music!)

When creating electronic music, sometimes I use DAWless, sometimes I use Ableton and increasingly a bit of both. However, this time around the whole EP was DAWless, with the only caveat is on the final track I added some FX in post production, everything else was just taken straight from the back of the mixer.

Gear Choices

I used Roland TR-8 and the Arturia Drumbrute Impact for drum machines. The main instrument was the Arturia Minibrute 2s, which makes sense since its the most recent synth I have bought and I am really get along well with it, especially liking altering the last step of the sequences to bring in the syncopation you can hear all over this EP. Along side I also used the Behringer Crave for additional leads and swoopy noises. Also features the Behringer Edge (DFAM clone) on a few of the tracks. Lastly the very versatile Novation Circuit Tracks still gets a look in, whilst I no longer use it as my main centerpiece, I still find it very complimentary to the other gear and it gets involved when I want a synth with polyphony for chords, as all my other synths are analog monophonic, also I can feed a synth in to its inputs to utlise its sidechain effect and add reverb too. Whats more, it can be put on the end of the chain for the master filter sweeps.
